Maintenance insomnia, on the other hand, is the inability to sleep through the night and people suffering from maintenance insomnia tend to wake up at night and have difficulty going back to sleep. This is insomnia that is linked to other psychological disorders that an individual may be facing. For instance, people with mental disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and panic attacks may also exhibit insomnia as one of the symptoms to their diseases. In many cases, comorbid insomnia is treated separately from the core health issues.
6. Psycho-physiological Insomnia
Psycho physiological insomnia stems from habitual worrying and anxiety. It is common in people who worry about varied aspects of their lives. These individuals may also worry about their health and sleep patterns hence have difficulty falling asleep.
7. Drug or Substance-Related Insomnia
There are certain drugs and substances in things that we consume that may cause insomnia. These may include substances such as alcohol, hard drugs, caffeine and certain medications. Such substances may excite the body and suppress sleep hormones.
