She served as the Associate Director of Buddhist Peace Fellowship in Berkeley California, where she founded the Buddhist Alliance for Social Engagement (BASE). BASE is the first Buddhist volunteer service organization, a kind of urban Buddhist peace corps. She is a member of the Think Sangha, a Buddhist "think tank" dedicated to writing and research on Buddhist social issues. She has written for a number of publications including Tricycle, Inquiring Mind, Turning Wheel, Fellowship Magazine, ReVision Magazine, and others. Her writing has appeared in Blue Jean Buddha and the Not Turning Away: The Practice of Engaged Buddhism, Hooked: Buddhist Writings on Consumerism, Greed, and the Urge to Consume, Nixon Under the Bodhi Tree and Best Buddhist Writing 2005 anthologies. She is on the Teacher's Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and teaches meditation and engaged Buddhism nationally. She has been teaching teehenagers to meditate since 1993 through classes, retreats, school visits, and more. Diana is the founder of Contemplation and Action Consulting. Past clients have included curriculum development for Impact Foundation, Vallecitos Mountain Refuge, and teaching and consultation for Children's Institute International, and UCLA. Currently she is the Director of Mindfulness Education at UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center where she brings mindfulness programs to educators, mental health professionals, teenagers, research studies, and the population at large.
